HB 2002 contains technical and conforming changes to statute from Laws 2000, Chapter 285.

History

Laws 2000, Chapter 285 established the increased time frame in which a child may be held in temporary custody from 48 hours to 72 hours.  HB 2002 amends current law (ARS sections 8-821 and 8-823) to changes passed by Laws 2000, Chapter 285.  ARS section 8-821 lays out the specific guidelines which must be followed if a child is removed and taken into temporary custody.  ARS section 8-823 contains the required statements which accompany a child being placed in temporary custody.

Provisions

·          Extends the time period that a child may remain in temporary custody from 48 hours to 72 hours, excluding Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, unless a dependency petition is filed.

·          Makes technical and conforming changes.

HB 2002 passed the House unamended.
