AN ACT

RELATING TO THE STUDY OF INDUSTRIAL HEMP.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1. Arizona state university study; reporting requirement; appropriation; purpose; exemption

A. The Arizona state university-east, school of agri-business and resource management may study the feasibility and desirability of industrial hemp production in this state. The study shall include an analysis of all of the following:

1. Required soils and growing conditions.

2. Seed availability and varieties, including in the ground seed variety trials.

3. Harvest methods.

4. Market economies.

5. Environmental benefits.

B. If the study is conducted pursuant to subsection A, the Arizona state university-east, school of agri-business and resource management shall submit a report of its findings and recommendations to the governor, the president of the senate and the speaker of the house of representatives on or before December 1, 2002 and shall provide a copy of this report to the secretary of state and the director of the Arizona state library, archives and public records.

Sec. 2. Delayed repeal

Section 1 of this act is repealed from and after January 31, 2003.
