AN ACT
MAKING APPROPRIATIONS TO THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH SERVICES FOR RURAL AMBULANCES.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:
Section 1. Appropriations; purpose
A. Subject to availability of monies in the fund, the sum of $1,500,000 is appropriated from the emergency medical services operating fund established by section 36-2218, Arizona Revised Statutes, in fiscal year 2001-2002 to the department of health services for distribution to rural areas to improve emergency medical services, as determined by the director of the department after consultation with the emergency medical services council.
B. Subject to availability of monies in the fund, the sum of $200,000 is appropriated from the emergency medical services operating fund established by section 36-2218, Arizona Revised Statutes, in each of fiscal years 2001-2002 and 2002-2003 to the department of health services for distribution to rural areas for increased costs associated with providing ambulance services.
Sec. 2. Reporting requirement
The director of the department of health services shall submit a written report regarding the expenditure of the appropriation made in section 1, subsection A of this act to the governor, the president of the senate and the speaker of the house of representatives on or before November 15, 2002.
