AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION; PROVIDING FOR A SCHOOL DISTRICT TELEMEDICINE PILOT PROJECT.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1. Telemedicine; public school; pilot project

A. The Arizona telemedicine program at the university of Arizona shall enter into an agreement with a school district in a county with a population of more than two million persons to establish a one year telemedicine pilot project to determine the efficacy of using telemedicine technology in school health clinics.

B. The Arizona telemedicine program shall submit a written report of its finding and recommendations to the governor, the speaker of the house of representatives and the president of the senate on or before November 15, 2002 and shall provide a copy of the report to the secretary of state and the director of the Arizona state library, archives and public records.

Sec. 2. Delayed repeal

This act is repealed from and after December 15, 2002.

Sec. 3. Appropriation; purpose; exemption

A. The sum of $100,000 is appropriated from the state general fund in fiscal year 2001-2002 to the Arizona telemedicine program at the university of Arizona for the pilot program established by this act.

B. The appropriation made in subsection A of this section is exempt from the provisions of section 35-190, Arizona Revised Statutes, relating to lapsing of appropriations.
