SB 1326 requires the Department of Education (ADE) to develop policies and procedures which provide for timely and efficient services to individuals with disabilities residing in foster or group homes.

 

Provisions

·                      Clarifies that the special education section of ADE must develop policies and procedures for the provision of special education services to individuals with disabilities residing in foster or group homes.

·                      Lists specific items that shall be addressed by the special education section of ADE and the Division of Developmental Disabilities within the Department of Economic Security (DES).

 

SB 1326 was amended in the Education Committee as follows:

·                      Removes the language requiring ADE to disperse $150,000 by August 1, 2000.

·                      Clarifies that the special education section of ADE must develop policies and procedures for the provision of special education services to individuals with disabilities residing in foster or group homes.

·                      Adds specific items that shall be addressed by the special education section of ADE and the Division of Developmental Disabilities within the Department of Economic Security (DES).

 

The Education Committee amendment was adopted in Committee of the Whole.
