SB 1326 requires the Department of Education (ADE) to disperse monies previously appropriated for FY 1999-00.

 

History

Laws 1999, Chapter 243, Section 5 appropriated $150,000 to ADE to reimburse school districts for additional costs associated with students that qualify for a certificate of educational convenience.  The monies were appropriated in each of FYs 1999-00 and 2000-01.

 

Provisions

·                      Requires ADE to disperse previously appropriated monies for FY 1999-00 by August 1, 2000.

·                      States that the special education section of ADE shall develop procedures which provide timely and efficient services to individuals with disabilities residing in foster or group homes.

 

SB 1326 was amended in the Education Committee as follows:

·                      Removes the language requiring ADE to disperse $150,000 by August 1, 2000.

·                      Clarifies that the special education section of ADE must develop policies and procedures for the provision of special education services to individuals with disabilities residing in foster or group homes.

·                      Adds specific items that shall be addressed by the special education section of ADE and the Division of Developmental Disabilities within the Department of Economic Security.
