SB 1316 stipulates that a person serving a probation term involving domestic violence, violations of title 13 concerning assault or a felony offense is classified as a “prohibited possessor” of weapons.

 

History

The current definition of “prohibited possessor” of weapons includes anyone serving a term of probation, parole, community supervision, work furlough, home arrest or release or anyone serving probation or parole pursuant to the interstate compact as described in statute.  Possession of a weapon by a prohibited possessor is a class four felony.

 

Provisions

·                      Expands the definition of “prohibited possessor” to include a person serving a probation term involving domestic violence, violations of title 13 concerning assault or a felony offense.

·                      Makes technical and conforming changes.
