As Passed the House

HB 2500 clarifies that the total cost of water or sewer work does not include volunteer work or donations made for the water or sewer project when determining total cost of the project.

History

Currently, water or sewer work may be constructed either with or without bids if the cost does not exceed the 1995 cap adjusted each fiscal year thereafter by the annual percentage change in the GDP price deflator.  The adjusted amount for fiscal year 1999-2000 is $168,497.  If the cost exceeds this specified amount, a notice to contractors of intention to receive bids and contract for the proposed work must be published.  This notice must contain the nature of the work required, the type, purpose and location of the project and where the plans, specifications and full information may be obtained.  The report must also state that contractors may obtain copies of the plans and specifications for estimates.
