The bill appropriates an undetermined sum from the state general fund in fiscal year 2000-01 to the Legislative Council for the purpose of conducting a comprehensive information study and evaluation relating to the elk population and their habitat impacts. The study will be done by a contract with one of the state universities. The appropriation is exempt from lapsing.

The bill passed the Natural Resources Committee without any amendments.
