As Passed the House

HB 2493 repeals existing county mileage guidelines and implements new county mileage policy guidelines.

History

Currently, members of boards of supervisors living outside of the county seat are allowed mileage from their home to the corporate limits of the county seat when attending board meetings.  If a member lives more than fifty miles away from the county seat limits, they may receive actual expense reimbursement, up to fifteen dollars for each day while attending board meetings or performing their duties at the county seat.  The board of supervisors approve expense reimbursement by a vote.  However, the supervisor requesting reimbursement may not vote on the issue.

Provisions

·                      Requires the board of supervisors to establish a duty station for each board member at an appropriate location in the county.  Defines “duty station” as the place where the board member spends the largest portion of the board member’s regular work day or working time.

·                      States that the board of supervisors shall follow the county travel policy.
