House Bill 2480 allows emergency medical services providers to discipline their employees.

 

Provisions

·                   Permits an ambulance service or emergency medical services provider to investigate and discipline employees if the service has:

·                   A separate staff that conducts investigations.

·                   Counseling programs for employees.

·                   Policies regarding drug testing.

·                   A performance review system.

·                   Monitoring policies for those who are suspected of or who have been convicted of substance abuse.

·                   Stipulates that the following must be reported to the medical director of emergency medical services:

·                   All allegations.

·                   Temporary certification status of employee during investigation or rehabilitation.

·                   Outcome of the investigation and determination of the employee’s certification status.

·                   Adds a definition for emergency medical services provider.
