HB 2452 allows school districts to use the proceeds from the sale or lease of school property for the construction of new schools without voter approval if the monies are expended within three years.  The bill states that these monies shall supplant and not supplement any monies appropriated by the School Facilities Board for the project.

 

History

Current law specifies the approved uses for the proceeds from the sale or lease of school property. 

 

Provisions

·                      Allows school districts, without the approval of the voters, to use the proceeds from the sale or lease of school property for up to three years for the construction of new schools.

·                      Clarifies that the proceeds from the sale or lease of school property shall supplant and not supplement any monies appropriated by the School Facilities Board for new construction on that project.

·                      Makes technical and conforming changes.

 

HB 2452 failed to pass the Education Committee.
