Establishes a State Parks Department and converts the State Parks
Board to an advisory board if a threshold budget amount is
appropriated by the legislature.
ABSTRACT OF PROPOSED STRIKE-EVERYTHING TO HB 2648:
HB 2648 establishes a State Parks Department with a Director and
converts the State Parks Board to advisory status.
History:
Currently the Arizona State Parks Board consists of the state land
commissioner and six governor appointed members. The Board employs
a full-time director. The purpose of the State Parks Board is to
acquire, preserve, establish, and maintain areas of natural,
scenic, historical, and scientific interests for the people of
Arizona.
