Abstract for HB 2640 (stadium districts; eminent domain) Sponsors: Weiers, Cooley: Senators Bowers, Solomon

HB 2640 requires a county stadium district to establish evidence, before an acquisition can be made through eminent domain, that the acquisition is compatible with the greatest public good and the least private injury. The bill stipulates that compatibility is a judicial question to be determined without regard to any legislative assertion of compatibility. In addition, the bill designates the district as a displacing agency for purposes of providing relocation assistance.

HB 2640 passed the Government Reform Committee unamended.
