Bill Summary for HB 2693 diabetes; treatment; insurance coverage Sponsors: Voss, Preble, et al

HB 2693 amends sections 20-826, 20-934, 20-1057, 20-1342, 20-1402, and 20-1404 A.R.S., and amends Title 20, Chapter 13, article 1 A.R.S. by adding section 20-2325 to require all subscription contract providers, benefit insurers, health care services organizations, disability insurers, group disability insurers, blanket disability insurers, and health benefits plans to provide benefits for diabetes patients.

Provisions:

· Requires all insurers effected under this bill to provide coverage for equipment, supplies, and outpatient self-management training and education for the treatment of insulin-dependent, insulin-using, gestational, and noninsulin-using diabetes.


· Diabetes benefits are subject to the same annual deductibles or coinsurance for all other covered benefits under the insurer's contract.


· Contains a delayed effective date of January 1, 1999.
