AN ACT
AMENDING TITLE 28, CHAPTER 3, ARTICLE 2, ARIZONA REVISED STATUTES, AS ADDED
BY LAWS 1996, CHAPTER 76, SECTION 18, BY ADDING SECTION 28-629; RELATING TO
PHOTO RADAR DEVICES.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:
Section 1. Title 28, chapter 3, article 2, Arizona Revised Statutes,
as added by Laws 1996, chapter 76, section 18, is amended by adding section
28-629, to read:

Prohibition of photo radar devices
A COUNTY, CITY OR TOWN, WITHIN ITS RESPECTIVE JURISDICTION, SHALL NOT USE PHOTO RADAR OR OTHER PHOTO ENFORCEMENT DEVICES TO IDENTIFY VIOLATORS OF
TRAFFIC LAWS OR ORDINANCES UNLESS THE USE IS APPROVED BY A MAJORITY OF THE
QUALIFIED ELECTORS VOTING ON THE ISSUE IN AN ELECTION HELD IN THE
JURISDICTION.
Sec. 2.
Delayed effective date
This act is effective from and after September 30, 1997.
