Representative Eddie Ableser has served the District 17 communities of Tempe and South Scottsdale for 12+ years. Born and raised in Los Angeles, he attended high school in Michigan, and received bachelor's degrees in political science and Chinese from Arizona State University in 2000. In 2004, he earned a Master's degree in counseling psychology while working as an ASU instructor. He is currently pursuing his doctorate in Justice and Social Inquiry and teaching courses in Justice Theory, all at ASU.

Eddie is a mental-health counselor for the public school system, working with troubled youth and their families. He serves as a board member to Kiwanis Club of Tempe, the Boys and Girls Club of Tempe, Tempe/Kyrene Communities in Schools, and Childsplay. He is president of the Diamond Park Homeowners Association, and is the Democratic state committeeperson. From 1998 to 2001, Eddie served his community by organizing and leading church groups to work with students, families, and Tempe's homeless population. Eddie graduated from the Tempe Chamber of Commerce Leadership program in 2005 and received the City of Tempe's Martin Luther King Jr. Award for his work with the homeless and impoverished communities. Eddie travels to Washington DC to serve as one of 30 state legislators on the national “CLEAN” (Coalition of Legislators for Energy Action Now) Committee. He is also the Arizona delegate for the US Green Building Counsel.

Eddie married his wife, Hilary, on July 11, 2009, in Lake Tahoe, Nevada. They reside in their first home together in the heart of Tempe.
