Representative Ray Barnes
District 7

Representative Barnes was born September 8, 1936 in Lawrence, Massachusetts. He has been in Arizona since 1982 and currently resides in Phoenix. Representative Barnes was elected to the House of Representatives in 2002 and re-elected in 2004 and 2006 and is the Chairman of the Environment Committee and also serves on the Homeland Security, Natural Resources, and Government Committees. He has been extensively involved with The Council on State Governments on border issues as well.


He is a Republican and has been a precinct committeeman for more than 20 years. Representative Barnes graduated from Haverhill High School in Massachusetts. He served in the U.S. Air Force 1954 – 1957 and was stationed in Japan with the USAF Security Service Command. Representative Barnes graduated from Northrop Institute of Technology and holds an airframe and power plant license and is a licensed pilot. He is a Christian and served as a missionary in the Republic of Haiti 1968 – 1971. Representative Barnes is a licensed private investigator and the owner of Eyes & Ears Detective Agency. He is the past president of the District 24 Arizona Republican Assembly and campaigned for Senator Dean Martin in 2000.


Representative Barnes is a member of the Carefree Kiwanis Club, NRA, and attends the Scottsdale Worship Center. Representative Barnes and his wife Paula have one daughter, Kequette who is married and living in Florida and one grandaughter, Ashyln, 1 1/2 years old.
